King Law’s Roots in Syracuse

Syracuse part of the fabric of King Law. My father moved to Syracuse when he was eight. My grandfather got relocated to the IBM office located on James Street in Syracuse. They lived in Camillus. My mom’s side of the family liked basketball. My mom is from Wayne County, New York – the home of Jim Boeheim. Her family didn’t miss a SU game for a decade or five. By the time I was in fourth grade I was determined to go to Syracuse University. I even had the oversized orange duffel bag to prove it.

Syracuse was where I really found myself. I went to law school in Syracuse. Law school is a crazy experience. All of a sudden everyone is really smart and really competitive. I lived with two guys, one was an All American football player and the other guy was born in India and had been in the Cleveland City Ballet and his Mom was a leading Doctor and he played in the US Open in Tennis. It seemed like everyone had a crazy story like my roommates, except me. I was from little Wayne Central High School and little St. John Fisher College. But I knew from day one I was meant to be a lawyer. Law school always made sense to me. The people were competitive like me and it was OK to challenge everything everyone said. I felt a sense of belonging that I hadn’t before.

We lived in a three-bedroom brick townhouse on Hawley Avenue. It wasn’t far from where my grandfather worked when he moved to Syracuse. That’s where I got my start – Syracuse, right there on Hawley Avenue.

Statute of Limitations on Personal Injury Claims in Syracuse, NY

One important thing to know about filing a personal injury claim in New York is that you don’t have an unlimited amount of time to do so. In fact, the personal injury statute of limitations in New York is three years from the date of accident. In the event that you are filing a medical malpractice claim, the statute of limitations is reduced to only two years and six months from the date of malpractice.

If you wait longer than the statute of limitations to file your lawsuit, you will be permanently barred from recovery. This is one of the reasons why it’s so important to call a Syracuse personal injury attorney as soon as possible after an accident.
