Defense Trial Victory: Accused and Acquitted of a Violent Crime

Our client was charged with Manslaughter in the First Degree. The jury found him to be innocent.

When a former client was charged with Manslaughter in the First Degree, he called King Law and secured our law firm to represent him in court. The charges were related to an incident in which he was unlawfully attacked at a bar and then again attacked in his driveway. The attacker was left deceased after attacking our client.

The case was prosecuted by two Ontario County District Attorneys, including the elected District Attorney. Our attorney, Greg Colavecchia, engaged in an almost three-week trial. In court, Mr. Colavecchia fought to prove that our client was justified and acted in self defense.

But, building that case began months earlier. After cross-examining countless police officers, police technicians, two homicide detectives, DNA experts, and a medical examiner, and after litigating over hundreds of photographs and pieces of evidence, Mr. Colavecchia fought to establish that his client was innocent. The jury agreed that our client was innocent and had acted in self defense. This case was won in the preparation.

“We are happy that after over two weeks of trial, the jury came to the correct conclusion. But this case was about so much more than the trial. Along with our private investigator, we worked for months. Reviewing every photograph and talking to every witness. The jury’s verdict was justice.”
