Drunk Driving Accidents Increase Over The Holidays

During the holidays, a lot of people get in the festive mood and enjoy holiday parties, libations and food. While many festivities are done in good spirit, the unfortunate truth about the holiday time is that there may be many more drunk drivers on the road. According to the National Highway and Safety Administration, drunk driving accidents increase more during the holiday season than any other time of the year. That means while you are out on the roads between October through January, you run a significantly higher risk of being hit by an intoxicated driver.

While the statistics surrounding intoxicated driving and the holidays can sound frightening, you could help protect yourself from drunk drivers by following these steps:

  • Look for drivers that are weaving in and out of traffic, driving on the center lane or using lane lines as bumpers
  • Watch for drivers that are following closely, braking erratically or almost striking another vehicle or person
  • Report anyone that seems suspicious immediately
  • Never follow a potential drunk driver, but rather stay out of their way and call 911 as soon as possible

INJURED BY AN INTOXICATED DRIVER?

If you were hit by a drunk driver, you need to take action and contact a personal injury attorney right away. Not only could you press charges for the negligent actions of the drunk driver, you may also be able to obtain compensation for the injuries that you sustained and any lost personal property or wages that resulted from the accident.

At King Law, the firm’s Rochester car accident attorney has nearly 10 years of experience in assisting clients in receiving favorable compensation as a result of personal injury cases, and they may be able to help you, too.

While you celebrate in the holiday cheer, remember to please, never drive drunk and always watch out for intoxicated drivers. Enjoy the holiday season and do not hesitate to contact King Law for your free case evaluation.
